I AM THY SHIELD, AND THY EXCEEDING GREAT REWARD
I AM THY SHIELD, AND THY EXCEEDING GREAT REWARD
By Evergeline Unity Esaaba Folson
After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision,
Saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.
The Common English Translation
Says:
After these events, the Lord’s word came to word came to Abram in a vision, “Don’t be afraid, Abram I am your protector. Your reward will be very great
The statement: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward has been replaced with!
I am your protector. Your reward will be very great.
Abraham and his men saw what happened to Sodom and Gomorrah they went there to rescue his nephew Lot and his family who had been taken captive.
He saw things that could put fear in him, therefore, god reassured him that He will be his protector and his reward or blessings would be great (abundant)
In the world we live in today there are so many issues that put fear into us!
- A global pandemic that killed thousands of people and affected the lifestyle and economies of countries all over the world.
- Our Sedentary lifestyle, eating of junk food is affecting a lot of people. Diseases like diabetes, hypertension, cancer stroke etc. that affected only old people about two decades ago, affect even children today. Instead of playing outside in the sun, children now spare hours behind their computers playing games indoors.
- There is conflict and unnecessary war in the Ukraine and other countries all over the world.
- Crime and violence is on the increase. Like God told Abraham, we need not fear because He is our protector and He will greatly bless s.
If God is our protector and our reward then we most!
- Not be discouraged by our circumstances
Exodus 14: 13 -14
Psalm 91:7
Matthew 8: 23 – 27
- What on the Lord
Psalm 27:13-14
Isaiah 40:31
1 Peter 5:7
- Thank god for the victory
Psalm 100:4
1 Thessalonians 5:18
WE MUST NOT BE DISCOURAGED BY OUR CIRCUMSTANCES
Exdous 14:13 -14
And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will shew you today! For the Egyptians whom ye see today, ye shall see them again no more forever.
The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. As humans, it is very difficult for us to “Stand Still” when there is chaos around us. You feel like pushing things around, defending and proving your case etc. But what we are not aware of is that when we work, God goes to rest.
If you want god to work or move on your behalf, then you have to learn to “Stand Still” For instance, consider politicians. Politicians are ruthless; they will say and do anything to destroy their opponent or victims. Sometimes in an attempt to clear himself, the victim or opponent organizes a Press Conference to clear himself.
This does not work in spiritual Circles. In order to clear yourself you have to be prayerful and patiently wait for God to move. One move or word from God
through a prophet or man of God or through a personality of high standing can end years of fighting to clean yourself.
Like god said to the Israelites, the “Egyptians” or challenges and obstacle you face today you will see no more. Trust God and wait patiently in prayer and thanksgiving.
Psalm 91:7
A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand, but it shall not come nigh thee.
The fight could be on your door step but because the Lord is your protector and reward it shall not harm you. Why? Because the Lord will shield you completely from every attack, physical and spiritual.
Matthew 8:23-27
And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed Him.
And, behold, there arose great tempest in the sea, in so much that the ship. Was covered with the waves: but He was asleep.
And His disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us we perish.
And He said unto them, why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith. Then He arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. But
The men marveled, saying, what manner of men is this, that even the winds and the sea obey them!
Indeed, what manner of man is this? He did the impossible calmed a storm by just calling it into being. What faith, and what power and authority He has.
If you have such a God as your shield and reward, what is there to fear? Once you have God by your side, you are fully protected and shielded whether you are conscious or unconscious of His activities.
WE MUST WAIT ON THE LORD
Psalm 27:13-14
I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the Land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart; wait, I say, on the Lord.
Waiting on the Lord, involves being patient and expecting the move of the Lord. As you patiently expect His move, you most pray, study the word and thank Him in advance for your victory.
Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be wear; and they shall walk and not faint.
The verse above tells us what waiting on the Lord does for the Christian:
- It renews your strength or makes you stronger
- It helps you overcome challenges and obstacles (mount up with wings as eagles)
- It helps you do what you cannot do easily as a human (run and not grow weary, walk and not faint)
1 Peter 5:7
Casting all your care upon him; for He careth for you.
Trusting or entrusting all your cares (problems, anxieties, discomforts etc.) to the Lord since He cares for you, He will ensure that all your cares are resolved one after the other, till you are fully relieved of all of them.
WE MUST THANK GOD FOR THE VICTORY
Psalm 100:4
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His Courts with praise: be thankful unto Him and bless His name.
It does not matter whether your circumstances are changing or not changing, continue to thank God by faith that the victory will be yours. As you do this you get closer to God and He comforts and strengthens you as you wait.
1 Thessalonians 5:18
In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
This verse also confirms the fact that you need to keep thanking and praising God even when you can see no change in your circumstance. You will be calling into being your victory and it will come to pass by the grace of God amen
