CAST NOT AWAY YOUR CONFIDENCE
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward.
The Oxford English mini dictionary defines confidence as ‘faith’, ‘certainty’, or ‘trust’, the belief that you are able to do something well.
In short, the verse above is trying to tell us not to throw away our faith or give up our faith in God. WHY? Because it has ‘great recompense of reward’ or will be blessed abundantly if we keep our faith in God, in good times and in bad times. (Hebrews 10:35)
How can we prevent ourselves from giving up our faith in the face of challenging circumstances? WE MUST!
- Believe that all things will work for our good
Jeremiah 29:11
Romans 8:28
- Believe that god will not forsake us
Joshua 1:5
Hebrews 13:5
- Believe that we need to glorify God in all we do
Psalm 148:13
Mathew 5:16
BELIEVE THAT ALL THINGS WILL WORK FOR OUR GOOD
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think towards you saith the lord, the thought of peace and not evil, to give you an expected end.
Things sometimes happen in life that can make us to renounce our faith. You learn so hard for an exam and you end up failing because you didn’t turn over your question paper to answer the question at the back. Why did God allow this to happen?
The verse of Jeremiah 29:11 says ‘God has our welfare at heart’. He has good plans for our lives. So no matter what happens believe that God can work it out for our good. Rewrite the and be more careful. And by the grace of God you will pass.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
The verse confirms that God can put together good and bad events in our lives and make them all benefit us. Do not renounce your faith because of a setback in life. He who has called you is faithful and will ensure that all things work for your good. He will reward you.
BELIEVE THAT GOD WILL NOT FORSAKE US
To forsake is to abandon especially in time of trouble when you need help.
Joshua 1:5 says
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the years of thy life: as I was with Moses so I will be with thee, I will not fail thee nor forsake thee
In the verse above, God assures Joshua that he will not forsake him. And he kept his promise to him. The same promise holds true for every believer because it is repeated in Hebrews 13:5
Hold fast to the confusion of your faith even in the face of challenging situations because God will not forsake or abandon you.
You may feel uncomfortable and rejected but keep trusting God the will make a way for you to overcome the obstacles you face. And bless you abundantly.
BELIEVE THAT WE NEED TO GLORIFY GOD IN ALL WE DO
Psalm 148:13
Let them praise the name of the Lord: for his name alone is excellence; his glory is above the earth and the heavens.
When we praise God frequently like the psalmist did in the verse above, even when we are down hearted our joy will be restored. Then we would be encouraged to hold fast to the confession of our faith
Mathew 5:16
Let our light so shine before man, that the see our God works and glorify our Father in heaven.
Seek to glorify the Lord in all that you do and your faith would be strengthened and you will also be blessed abundantly.
Let this be your prayer and song everyday
Keep me shinning Lord
Keep me shinning Lord
In all I saw and do
That the world may see
Christ leaves in me
And learns to love him too
Psalm 150:6 says let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord
