BLESSED IS THE MAN
BLESSED IS THE MAN
BY EVANGELINE UNITY ESAABA FOLSON
PSALM 1:1-3
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and his law doth he meditate day and night.
And he shall be rivers of water, that bringeth forth his front in his season; his leaf also shall not wither and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
To be blessed means to experience the favour of God in abundance. It includes receiving the goodness and mercy of God. Furthermore, it implies that one has good success and prosperity. The passage above describes a man who is blessed. Such a man does not:
Walk in the counsel of the ungodly
Nor stand in the way of sinners
Nor sitteth in the seat of scornful
Walking in the counsel of the ungodly means seeking advice from unbelievers (those who do not believe in God) and using it to resolve your problems. The bible says “ the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10).
The fear of God will make you obey all the commands of God and seek counsel only from the bible ministers of God and Christian brethren.
Standing in the way of sinners involves keeping friends who are unbelievers and doing the same things they do, even though you are a Christian.
2 Corinthians 6:14 says
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers; for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?
Sitting in the seat of the scornful refers to having fellowship or relationship with proud people who see everyone else as inferior.
The bible ways in 1 Corinthians 10:12 that:
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he falls.
If you stay away from the three types of relationships described above you will be blessed. Instead of keeping such a relationship find time to:
Study and meditate on the word of God (Joshua 1:8)
Spend time in the presence of God and share fellowship with Christian brethren (Hebrews 10:25)
CONCLUSION
To excel in 2021, aim at studying the word of God thoroughly so that it can guide you in all you do.
Psalm 119:105 says
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Remember also that cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, and from the south. It is God who judges. He brings one down, He exalts another (Psalm 75:6-7)
