What does it profit a man?
Mark 8:36
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

The verse above says we gain nothing by acquiring all the riches and comforts in this world at the expense of losing our soul.

We all labor day in and day out working and searching for all kinds of things to make us comfortable in life.

Sometimes, we even sacrifice the time we need to serve God to do other things that will cause us to excel only here on earth.

Within every human is a soul that never dies. The body will die and decompose but our souls will live on. Meaning, apart from striving to keep our bodies comfortable we need to ensure that our souls will live in comfort after life here on earth.
How do we ensure the welfare of our souls?

Matthew 6:19-20 says we should build treasure in heaven which can never be destroyed and can improve the welfare of our souls.

Building treasure in heaven involves doing the things that please God:

– Delight yourself in the Lord and He shall grant you the desires of your heart ( Psalm 37:4)
– Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. ( Matthew 6:33)

Dear student, worker and ambassador of Christ as you seek to fulfill your earthly desires of:

– Excelling in your studies to get a good career and become comfortable life
– Excelling in your career to gain a certain status in life
– Excelling in your ministry to prove your spirituality

Let us always remember to apply only biblical principles to achieve our aim in life. (Matthew 5: 8 says blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God)
God be with you

Song for meditation

Let this hymn be your confession and prayer

A charge to keep I have
A God to glorify
A never dying soul to save
And fit it for the sky

To serve the present age
My calling to fulfill
Oh may it all my powers engage
To do my master’s will
Amen
