BE HOLD I DO A NEW THING
BE HOLD I DO A NEW THING
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of the old. Behold I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
The Good news the good news of verse 19 says
Watch for the new thing I am going to do, it is happening already- you can see it now! I will make a road through the wilderness and give you streams of water there. This verse and passage are from the old testament. When you read the verses after Isaiah 43:19 you realize the Lord was angry with the Israelites in spite of all had done for them, they were disobedient.
Isaiah 43:28 And your rulers profane (defiled) my sanctuary (temple or dwelling place). So I have brought destruction on Israel; I let my own people be insulted (treated them in a way that offends)
The verses after verse 19 are explaining why God punished the Israelites in verse 1 to 19 describes what God is going to do to pacify them after the punishment.
As a good father, he had to discipline And correct them. Now was the time to comfort them. He was going to do a new thing, but before this, The Israelites have to forget about the punishment and look forward to the new thing he was going to do.
What is the new thing?
God was going to make a way in the wilderness and make reverse flow in the desert.
- The ” wilderness” It’s an uncultured and On uninhabited area. The place is dark and they are trees, grass, shrubs growing together. There is no path because no one lives there. The wilderness signifies the difficult and un sure mountable challenges in our lives. Things are such that you do not understand what is happening and you cannot figure out how to overcome the challenge.
God says fear not because you are mine, no matter what you go through it shall not overwhelm you. (Isaiah 43:1-3)
I am doing a new thing I am going to show you a way out of the impossible situation. the way out can be found in Isaiah 45:22
Look on to me, and be ye saved, all the end of the earth, for I am God and there is none else.
The good news translation of Isaiah 45:22 says Turn to me now and be saved, people all over the world! I am the only God there is.
- “Turn to me ”means Look up to me for help. Place your fears and needs before God in prayer and he will make a way. Placing your request before God involves asking (expecting or demanding answer from God, knocking attracts Gods attention) and seeking (trying to obtain answer from God) This is summarized in Matthew 7:7-8
- Making rivers flow in the desert This is also signifies God providing refreshment to us in times of great stress and difficulties. The desert is a dry land, there are no rivers flowing in the desert. Only patches of water called the Oasis which provide some sort of refreshment in the dry land. How will God refresh us in the dry land. How will God refresh us in the desert of difficulties and stress? The answer can be found in Isaiah 41:10
Fear thou not; for I am with there: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold there with the right hands of my righteousness.
The new thing, God is going to do in the verse above is to refresh you in your desert or difficulties and stress by strengthening you( giving you the energy and abilities you need), help you ( making your load or burdens lighter) and sustain us will we overcome or have the victory manifested in our lives.
Conclusion
Do not hope or despair when you encounter challenged in your life. God is doing a new thing, He will make a way where there seems to be no way.
Meditate on the words of this song:
God will make a way
Where there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be me guide
Hold me closely to His side
With love and strength, for each new day
He will make a way
He will make a way
By a roadway in the wilderness
He will lead me
Rivers in the desert will I see
Heaven and earth will pass away
But His love still remains
God will do, something new today
God will make a way…
