THEY THAT LOVE THE LORD HAVE GREAT PEACE
THEY THAT LOVE THE LORD HAVE GREAT PEACE
By Evangeline Unity Esaaba Folson
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
Verse above says:
Those who love your teachings will find true peace, and nothing will defeat them (New Century version of Bible)
If you love the Lord, then you will love or obey His teachings and instructions found in the Bible. And then you will have great peace or perfect or complete freedom from anxiety, fretting and worrying.
There are 2 phrases I will like to elaborate on:
- True peace
- Nothing will defeat them
What does the bible mean by “true peace”? The answer can be found in :
Psalm 46:10
Be at peace (Let go of your concern) in the knowledge that I am God: I will be lifted up among the nations; I will be honored through all the earth. The phrase “Be still and know that I am God” is translated as;
- “Be at Peace” in the Bible in Basic English translation, and as
- “Let go of your concerns” in the God’s word translation in short “true peace” is letting go of all your concerns and trusting God to resolve all your problems.
Another verse that describes “true peace” is Exodus 14:14 it says
The Lord will fight for you, you must be quiet. Meaning, “true peace” is allowing God to fight on your behalf without making any attempt to defend yourself.
What does the bible mean by “Nothing will defeat them”? The answer can be found in 2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of His knowledge by us in every place.
The bible in Basic English Translates this verse as: But praise be to God who make us strong to overcome in Christ, and makes clear through us in every place the knowledge of Him.
If God is always going to give us strength to overcome, or triumph then there is no place for defeat in the Christians life.
What may seem like defeat in your life today can be turned around for your good today, tomorrow or in the future. This is confirmed in Romans 8:28 And we all know that all things works together for the good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose.
For the children of God “defeat or failure” never ends your story. The story ends when God calls you home in death.
MICAH 7:8 Says:
Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall rise; when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the lord shall be a light unto me.
Peace is a very important in our lives. Without peace or peace of mind, you cannot do much. You cannot concentrate on your studies, work or ministry as an ambassador of Christ.
Isaiah 26:3
People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole, steady on their feet, because they keep at it and don’t quit (The message Bible)
Ponder over the words of this hymn:
Be still my soul the Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently, the cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy Lord to order and provide
In every change He faith will remain
Be still, my soul, thy best, thy heavenly friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
