Lord, teach us how to give
Proverbs 19:17
He that hath pity on the poor lendeth unto the Lord, and that which he hath given will He pay him back.

According to the verse above giving to the poor is like lending to the Lord. He will reward or compensate you.

In the world today, we have rich and poor nations. Some have so much that they have surplus funds and surplus goods and services. Others have so little that they are overburdened with debts and they are dying from hunger and lack of adequate water supply because of wars or famine and drought.

Rich nations could consider the poor nations, forgive some of their debt and provide them with some free food supplies. They will be blessed if they do this.

Luke 6:38
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure pressed down and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bossom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

The verse above confirms that whoever gives will also receive. In our individual lives we can also plan to give to those in need. Be always ready to share whatever you have as an individual and a nation. The poor nations and people may not be able to give back to you but God will reward you in diverse ways.
God be with you.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. Think of diverse ways you can help someone as an individual. You could give your money, food, clothes etc.
2. As a rich nation as you draw your budget each year, set some funds aside to help poor nations. You could write-off some of their debt, give grants, food supplies etc.

Prayer
Loving Father, may your name be praised at all times. Help us to understand that we need to support one another to make the world a better place. Amen.
