Let there be light
Genesis 1:3
And God said, let there be light: and there was light.
Light is a very important commodity in the life of man. We need it in the morning, afternoon, evening, midnight and dawn. The bible says in the beginning the earth was without form and void and thick darkness covered the earth. God in His wisdom knew that light was very important, created light first (let there be light), the sun for the day time and the moon and stars for the night. Man cannot live a fruitful life without light.

Matthew5:16

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven.

Just as we need light to survive on earth, we also need to let the light God has placed in us as Christians shine. When we are saved, we become new creations and we need to shine and let our good works draw men to God. If we do not let our light shine the world will not see and experience the love of God.

How can I apply the word to my life?
1. As you plan for each day, remember to add some acts of kindness or good works to your agenda.
2. In addition to this make a deliberate effort to pick people you can help.
3. You do not have to give exceptional help, give based on your finances. As a student you could share your provisions or pocket money with someone who does not have.
3. As a worker, you could help someone pay his/her children’s school fees. You could give provisions to poor families etc.

Prayer
Loving Father, receive all the praise and honour you deserve. Help me reflect the light of your love and goodness to all those around me. Amen.
